Westminster Removals Terms and Conditions

Removal van and moving team preparing household items for transportThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Westminster Removals provides domestic and commercial moving services, including packing, loading, transport, unloading, and any agreed additional services. By making a booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms. These terms apply to all services supplied by Westminster removals unless otherwise agreed in writing. For the purposes of these conditions, references to ???we??, ???us??, and ???our?? mean Westminster Removals, and references to ???you?? or ???the customer?? mean the person, business, or organisation placing the booking.

Our service is designed to be clear, practical, and fair. The agreement between you and Westminster removals is formed when a booking is accepted by us, whether that acceptance is given by email, written confirmation, invoice issue, or another clear statement that the service has been reserved. It is the customer???s responsibility to ensure that all information provided during booking is accurate and complete. This includes access details, inventory estimates, special handling requirements, parking limitations, and any other factors that may affect the move. Where inaccurate or incomplete information is given, we may revise the price, timetable, or scope of service to reflect the actual circumstances.

These terms are intended to help both parties understand their rights and obligations before, during, and after the move. We recommend that customers review the entire document carefully before confirming any service. By proceeding, you agree that these conditions form part of the contract for the provision of moving services. If there is any conflict between these terms and a separately signed written agreement, the signed agreement will take precedence to the extent of that conflict.

1. Booking Process

All bookings are subject to availability. A quotation provided by Westminster Removals is usually based on the information supplied at the time of enquiry. Unless stated otherwise, quotations are estimates and may be adjusted if the scope of work changes, if access conditions differ from those described, or if additional items or services are requested. A quote may include labour, transport, packing materials, dismantling, reassembly, and waste handling only where those services have been expressly agreed.

To secure a booking, the customer may be asked to confirm the move date, addresses, contact details, access arrangements, and a list of items to be moved. We may also request photographs, an inventory, or a video survey to help assess the move accurately. Acceptance of a quote does not by itself guarantee a booking unless we confirm the reservation. Once confirmed, Westminster removals will allocate resources on the basis of the agreed information and date. You must notify us promptly of any changes that could affect the service.

Packed boxes and furniture arranged for a scheduled relocationIf the service is time-sensitive, the customer should state this clearly at the point of booking. While we will make reasonable efforts to meet agreed times, all arrival times are estimated unless a fixed time slot has been expressly guaranteed in writing. Delays caused by traffic, weather, parking restrictions, access issues, or events outside our control do not automatically entitle the customer to compensation or cancellation without charge. We will always act reasonably and keep the customer informed where possible.

2. Charges and Payments

Prices will be those confirmed in the accepted quotation or booking confirmation. Westminster removals may charge on a fixed-price basis or on an hourly basis, depending on the type of service and the information provided. Any additional work requested on the day, including extra labour, waiting time, storage handling, extra mileage, parking charges, or disposal services, may be charged separately. Unless explicitly included, quotes do not cover third-party fees, permit costs, congestion charges, tolls, or fines arising from incorrect parking arrangements.

Payment terms will be specified in the invoice or confirmation. In many cases, a deposit may be required to secure the booking, with the balance due before completion of the service or immediately upon completion, depending on the arrangement agreed. We may require advance payment for materials, specialist work, or long-distance moves. Payment must be made using an accepted method and in cleared funds. Failure to pay on time may result in suspension of services, withholding of goods where lawful, interest on late payments where permitted, and recovery of reasonable costs incurred in collecting overdue amounts.

Westminster removals reserves the right to correct obvious pricing errors and to amend a quotation if the information on which it was based proves to be materially inaccurate. If a revised price is necessary, we will explain the reasons for the change as soon as reasonably practicable. The customer may then decide whether to proceed with the updated terms. Any discount or promotional offer applies only in accordance with the conditions attached to that offer and cannot be transferred unless stated otherwise.

3. Changes, Delays, and Cancellations

The customer may request changes to the booking, including a change of date, addresses, access times, or scope of work. We will try to accommodate reasonable amendments, but cannot guarantee availability. If a change affects crew size, vehicle type, timing, or specialist equipment, the price may be revised. Westminster removals may also need to make changes where necessary for operational, safety, or legal reasons. We will notify the customer of material changes where reasonably possible.

If the customer cancels a booking, notice must be given as soon as possible. Cancellation charges may apply depending on how much notice is provided and whether resources have already been allocated. If cancellation occurs shortly before the scheduled date, we may retain the deposit or charge a proportion of the agreed service cost to cover lost time, administration, and unrecoverable expenses. Where a move is abandoned or delayed by the customer after our team has arrived, additional waiting or rebooking charges may apply. Any cancellation request should be confirmed in writing.

We may suspend, postpone, or cancel a service if it becomes unsafe, unlawful, or impracticable to proceed. This may include severe weather, vehicle breakdown, access restrictions, non-disclosure of hazardous items, or events beyond our reasonable control. In such circumstances, Westminster removals will seek to reschedule the service or agree an alternative arrangement. We are not responsible for costs caused by such events except where the law requires otherwise.

4. Customer Responsibilities

To ensure a smooth move, the customer must provide accurate information, clear access, and a safe working environment. All items should be packed and labelled appropriately unless packing has been included in the service. Fragile items should be protected to a reasonable standard. The customer must disclose any item that is unusually heavy, valuable, fragile, hazardous, or difficult to move. If such items are hidden, misdescribed, or left undeclared, Westminster removals may refuse to move them, charge extra, or exclude liability for resulting damage.

The customer must ensure that there is legal access to both the collection and delivery premises, including keys, codes, permits, parking arrangements, and lift access where relevant. If delays arise because access is not ready, additional charges may apply. The customer should also take reasonable steps to protect floors, walls, and fixtures where necessary, and should remove or secure personal or confidential items that are not intended to be moved. For office or commercial moves, the customer remains responsible for backing up data and ensuring that sensitive systems are properly shut down before the move begins.

Where the customer asks us to disassemble or reassemble furniture, we will do so with reasonable care, but we cannot guarantee that all items will be suitable for repeated dismantling. If a product is fragile, poorly assembled, or lacks manufacturer instructions, the risk of damage may be higher. Westminster removals is entitled to decline any task that our team reasonably considers unsafe or unsuitable for the available time, equipment, or staffing.

5. Liability and Insurance

Mover handling protective wrapping and loading equipment during transportWestminster removals will use reasonable care and skill in carrying out all services. We are responsible for direct loss or damage caused by our negligence, subject to the limits and exclusions in these terms and any applicable law. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. We recommend that customers maintain appropriate insurance for the goods being moved, especially for items of high value or sentimental importance.

Our liability is limited to the reasonable repair, replacement, or cash value of the affected item, taking into account age, condition, and depreciation, unless a different basis has been agreed in writing. We are not liable for pre-existing damage, ordinary wear and tear, latent defects, or damage caused by items not being adequately packed or protected by the customer. We are also not liable for loss caused by inaccurate instructions, incomplete information, or the customer???s failure to follow advice given by our team.

We will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, business interruption, reputational damage, or loss of opportunity, unless required by law. If any claim is made, the customer must notify us promptly and allow us a reasonable opportunity to inspect the goods and investigate the matter. Failure to do so may affect the ability to assess liability fairly. Any claim should be supported by evidence such as photographs, receipts, or an inventory where available.

6. Waste, Disposal, and Environmental Regulations

Where waste removal, clearance, or disposal services are included, both parties must comply with applicable UK waste regulations. Westminster removals will only transport, handle, or dispose of waste in accordance with relevant legal requirements and, where necessary, through lawful carriers, transfer notes, and authorised facilities. The customer must describe any waste accurately and must not include items that are hazardous, illegal, contaminated, or subject to special disposal rules unless this has been expressly agreed in advance.

Waste transfer, reuse, and recycling arrangements will be handled responsibly, and we may separate items for recycling, donation, or disposal where this is consistent with the agreed service and the law. The customer warrants that any items handed over for disposal are lawfully theirs to dispose of and do not contain hidden valuables, personal data, confidential records, or prohibited materials unless we have agreed to manage them specifically. We may refuse any item that would place our team or the environment at risk.

If the customer requests disposal of furniture, appliances, electronics, or other bulky items, it is the customer???s responsibility to tell us whether these items contain batteries, gas, oils, chemicals, sharp parts, or other hazards. Where specialist handling is needed, additional charges may apply. Westminster removals may refuse to move or dispose of any item if doing so would breach environmental law, health and safety requirements, or local restrictions on transport and disposal. Any unlawful request may result in immediate termination of the service without refund.

7. Goods in Transit and Storage

If goods are stored by us for any period, a separate storage arrangement may apply. In such cases, storage charges, access terms, and release conditions will be confirmed in writing. Customers should note that storage does not remove their duty to ensure that goods are suitable for storage and properly declared. Westminster removals is not responsible for deterioration caused by inadequate packing, moisture, pests, or inherent fragility unless caused by our negligence.

During transport, items may be consolidated, stacked, or secured according to normal moving practice. We will use reasonable care to protect goods from movement and impact. However, the customer acknowledges that some minor shifting or surface scuffing can occur during a standard move, especially where access is difficult or items are oversized. Any particularly delicate or high-value goods should be declared beforehand so that appropriate arrangements can be considered.

Where the customer has requested temporary holding, staged delivery, or split-drop services, Westminster removals may apply additional charges for extra handling, mileage, loading time, or storage space. We reserve the right to decline storage of dangerous, illegal, or unsuitable items. If goods are uncollected after the agreed period and the customer fails to respond to reasonable notices, we may take further steps permitted by law, including disposal or sale where lawful and after proper warning.

8. Ending the Agreement and General Terms

Moving crew managing furniture in a property during a serviceWe may end the agreement immediately if the customer acts abusively, provides false information, refuses reasonable instructions necessary for safety, or asks us to perform an unlawful act. We may also terminate or suspend the service where payment is not made, access is denied, or conditions on site create a serious risk to staff, goods, or property. In such cases, the customer may remain liable for work already carried out and for any costs reasonably incurred up to the point of termination.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer where applicable. If any part of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unlawful, unenforceable, or invalid, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. Any failure by us to enforce a provision on one occasion will not amount to a waiver of that provision or any other provision. These terms may be updated from time to time, but the version in force at the time of booking will usually apply to that booking unless a change is required by law.

Removal boxes and wrapped household goods ready for deliveryThese terms should be read alongside any quotation, invoice, or written confirmation issued for your move. Together, those documents form the full agreement for the services supplied by Westminster removals. By booking with us, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification, and review the scope of the service before work begins. Our aim is to provide a reliable, professional moving service while keeping expectations, responsibilities, and legal obligations clearly defined.

9. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim arising from them, whether contractual or non-contractual, shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If a matter can be resolved through discussion, both parties agree to act reasonably and in good faith before starting formal proceedings.
